Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL

A common warning seen in the Scheduler audit log when using Integration Services loads is:

Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL; data flow performance counters are not available. To resolve, run this package as an administrator, or on the system's console.

This warning occurs when the user account used to execute the SSIS package is not a member of the Administrators group on the server and this warning is not specific to WhereScape RED. The warning does not affect the execution of the package, which will complete successfully (if everything else is correctly configured).

However it is better to prevent these warnings where possible to avoid confusion and this is easily done by adding the user account assigned to the Scheduler into the Local Group called Performance Monitor Users. The Scheduler service will need to be restarted for this change to take effect, once done the warning above should no longer appear in the audit log.

Note: do not add the Scheduler user account to the local Administrators group, this is a security risk. Consult the RED Installation Guide for the correct permissions for RED Scheduler.
